Profile

For you

A desperate attempt to preserve the moment…
Photos, paintings, a journal…

Jewelry is my answer

Memories held dear
The stories I hear
Magnitude of emotions
Or
Fountains of my inspiration

Light, voices and sound
Alive in memory
Alive today
Resurrected
Can one wear
An album of memory

Breathing life
Into new pieces of self

Chisa Takagi Profile

Born : Osaka, Japan.

While working for a jewelry manufacturer, and gem & diamond appraisal company, Chisa Takagi started participating in various group exhibitions. Soon after, she became a freelance-designer in order to better provide total jewelry services.
She wanted not only to design originals, but also coordinate those items to create better styles.

Chisa moved to NY in 1999. While attending The Fashion Institute of Technology State University of New York, she worked with local designers including Helma Mezey, Loreli Hamm and Danna Distefano.
She also attended The National Academy of Design.
While studying there her works won her numerous awards and scholarships.

Chisa often exhibits her paintings and drawings along with her jewelry.
Her passionate pursuit of jewelry production includes many other activities like teaching jewelry-making classes that were featured in several NY-based publications.
Chisa founded C’spec CHISA in 2007, NY and has also been a member of The Japan Jewelry Designers Association since 2005.
She actively participates in international exhibitions, and has received numerous awards including The HRD International Diamond Jewelry Award in 2007 and The Saul Bell Award in 2006. Recently, she has been teaching and lecturing on Japanese Contemporary Jewelry in New York.

Chisa usually gets her basic design concepts from simple geometrical arrangements that consist of points, lines and surfaces.
These concepts then develop step by step, into the complete jewelry piece.
Through her work, this process of joining simple elements seems to expand to form limitlesspossibilities, similar to the organic patterns of human life and human relationships. The artist considers jewelry a powerful tool for expression that exceeds even the power of words.
